‘They came to York in their thousands. They’re going home as Champions!’
Those are the immortal words of Clive Tyldesley, taken from the Official 1991-92 celebration video, ‘BURNLEY ARE BACK!’
Now, ‘When The Ball Moves…` fanzine and Burnley Football Club, as part of the 125 celebrations, are giving you the opportunity to mark the 15th Anniversary of that wonderful season with a celebration evening, to be held at the James Hargreaves suite. The event also has the backing of The Clarets Trust and several independent websites.
This will take place on Friday, 20 April from 8pm onwards.
The evening will include a pie and peas` supper, speeches, clips from the video, a question and answer session, as well as an auction and/or a raffle. The players will be seated at random around the room offering those attending an opportunity to get a photograph, autograph, or just a chat with the players!
All proceeds from the event, which has the full support of Burnley Football Club, will go towards the youth set-up.
Tickets cost just £10 and are available from Martin Barnes, editor of ‘When The Ball Moves…’ fanzine, or direct from the Business Centre at Turf Moor.
Tickets will only be available by paying cash, or cheque made payable to ‘Burnley FC Youth Development Trust’. Please feel free to contact Martin on 07958 143757 or call the club on 01282 704701.
So come along and have a great night and help support Burnley’s future, as well as celebrating its past.
Several players have already confirmed their attendance, such as John Francis, Roger Eli, Mark Monington, Ian Measham and Andy Farrell. The rest of the squad is already being contacted and we also hope to have one or two surprises!
As well as the evening itself, there will also be the opportunity to play against some of the heroes of that successful, promotion-winning side in a five-a-side match to be held at the Turf Moor Leisure Centre at 7pm.
Places will be made available by email bidding and via www.ebay.co.uk
So, if you fancy the chance to play against some of your boyhood or adulthood heroes, then keep your eyes on both the official and unofficial BFC websites, and get bidding.
