Interest is credited in many a Burnley player, including this past weekend alone, but with George Boyd’s contract set to expire at the end of the season Aston Villa have an interest, they’re reportedly one of a ‘number of clubs’ from the top two divisions, in the Burnley midfielder.

Boyd – according to the Mirror, via the Birmingham Mail – has been offered a new one year deal at Turf Moor, but he’s turned this down as the 31 year old is looking for the security of a two year contract?

Aston Villa apparently ‘registering an interest’ wouldn’t be overly surprising given the fact his former Hull boss, Steve Bruce, is now in charge at Villa Park – Bruce knows Boyd well so would be very aware of his Championship and Premier League capabilities.

The twice capped Scottish international, signed from Hull in 2014, isn’t a player Sean Dyche would want to lose from the Burnley squad but a new deal would have to be right for the Clarets first and foremost.

You would probably have to admit, given the stage of Boyd’s career and stature of Aston Villa, the prospect of a switch to Villa Park, presumably on the two year deal he craves, could prove tempting to experienced midfielder?
