Burnley will take a squad of 24 players with them on their South West tour. The tour will take in pre-season friendly games against Blue Square Bet Confernece South club, Bath City on Tuesday night followed by League Two, Cheltenham Town on Saturday. Essentially this will be the first team squad with just Steven Hewitt selected from the Development squad.

The development squad will have their own battles to fight over the next week and after beating Alfreton 3-0 on their travels this Saturday now face visits to local club, Padiham on Tuesday night and then Droylsden on Saturday on the same days the first team squad will be in action down in the South West. Goals on Saturday from Medhi Lazaar early on in the first half followed by second half goals from Joe Jackson and Steven Hewitt were enough to secure victory in Derbyshire against the Blue Square Premier League club .The development squad though were helped by some of the first team squad during the first 60 minutes of the match with Jon Stewart, Luke O`Neill, George Porter and Alex MacDonald all featuring in Jason Blake`s starting eleven.

All four players will also form part of the South West Tour squad and the 24 players that have been named are as follows:

Goalkeepers : Lee Grant, Brian Jensen, Jon Stewart,

Defenders; Kieran Trippier, Luke O’Neill, Danny Lafferty, Joseph Mills, Michael Duff, David Edgar, Kevin Long, Jason Shackell, Ben Mee,

Midfielders and Wingers: Dean Marney, Chris McCann, Steven Hewitt, Marvin Bartley, Junior Stanislas, Ross Wallace, Keith Treacy, George Porter,

Strikers: Alex MacDonald, Charlie Austin, Martin Paterson, Danny Ings

Although Marvin Bartley is travelling as part of the squad he will not feature due to an ankle injury but has been included as part of Eddie Howe`s team-building exercise.

So first up is a visit to Twerton Park (now known as the Mayday Trust Park) to play Bath City. The game will kick-off at 7:45 pm on Tuesday night (31st July)

In this third pre-season game following wins at both Altrincham and Bury, Eddie Howe may once again experiment and try and play all 23 available squad members at some point in the game although it remains to be seen if this time he effectively has two completely different teams in each half! Howe will now want to start honing his team selection with a view to deciding on a starting eleven for when the new season starts in August first against Port Vale in the Capital One Cup and then against Bolton when the Championship season kicks-off in the high-profile game at Turf Moor on Saturday 18th August.

What do we know about the opposition on Tuesday night though? Well Bath were relegated from the Conference last season and will kick off the new season in the Blue Square Bet Conference South league. The Romans play in a stadium that holds 8,840 fans (1006 seated). Adie Britton is their gaffer and they play in black and white striped shirts.

Burnley will complete their South West Tour in a game against Cheltenham Town on Saturday 4th August (Kick-Off:3pm)The match will be played at The Abbey Business Stadium which of course is known to all fans as Whaddon Road!
