Age: 51

Where do you live?: Chatham, Kent

How long have you been a Claret?: Since being a kid back in the mid-sixties.

Season Ticket Holder, walk on or dont get to matches?: Unfortunately don’t get to matches 🙁

Favourite Player Today/Of all time: This is tough but right at the moment I think Tyrone Mears is the man – he’s playing a blinder. Martin Paterson, injured at the moment, has a great workrate and can create goal-scoring opportunities. We’re missing him IMHO. I reckon Robbie Blake is our most intelligent player – a great footballing brain.

What was your first match you saw at Turf Moor and when?: Can’t recall exactly but was probably around 1966ish.

Most memorable Clarets match & why: I can remember Man Utd coming to the Turf one Saturday afternoon – I’d guess 1967 or 68? – and being amazed (I was 8 or 9) at watching the likes of Bobby Charlton and George Best playing for them. They were such big stars at the time.
The thing I remember about that match was Nobby Stiles getting knocked out and stretchered off right in front of where I was in the stands.

How did you hear about Vital Burnley?: Must’ve been some link on the internet somewhere.

Favourite Pubs: My local the King George Vth in Brompton (an area of Chatham where I live hence my poster name)

Favourite Booze: Real ale, dark mild, the odd scotch.

Favourite Food: Proper grub not ‘fast food’.

Hobbies & Interests: Playing music – various styles. I’m a trombone player. Joined an army band when I finished school in Nelson in 1974 and was stationed down here. Been here ever since. Still playing a lot as a ‘civvy’ around the south east.

Owt else you want us to know?: Converted my Man Utd fan wife into a Burnley fan.

Season Ticket Holder, walk on or dont get to matches?: Bit far to come from Canada I’m afraid!!!! Promised myself, the next visit to UK will be in line with a home match.

Favourite Player Today/Of all time: Player today would have to be the Beast, I think. Difficult to choose one from yester year. There have been so many. The likes of Jimmy Mac, Leighton James, Harry Thompson, Martin Dobson. The list goes on and on.

What was your first match you saw at Turf Moor and when?: Can’t remember that far back but my dad would have let me in under the turnstyle he was working on though.

Most memorable Clarets match & why: Again so many. The ones from our European campaigns always stay in the memory. Especailly the one against dirty Napoli.

How did you hear about Vital Burnley?: A link from the Mail online.

Favourite Pubs: Park View. Used to go there with my dad when I was on leave from the Air Force

Favourite Booze: Nice British pint of bitter. Dream about sinking one!!!!

Favourite Food: Since I’ve been in Canada, British, unsmoked bacon. Canadian bacon is rubbish

Hobbies & Interests: Golf and BFC

Owt else you want us to know?: The amount of times dad and his mates let me on the matches for nothing, I think I must owe the club a free player!!!!!! Not that they’re going to get one, of course.

Couch Potato

Real Name: Geoffrey Mann

Sex: Not much these days, but anyone’s luck can change!

Age: 55 on 7 December 2009. Am hoping to get to Portsmouth a few days earlier, so don’t forget, eh?

Where do you live?: Lyme Regis on Devon/Dorset coast.

How long have you been a Claret?: Oldest memory is watching one of our European Cup games – Hamburg 1961? – on telly, but not 100% sure my memory is reliable, as I would only have been 6.

Season Ticket Holder, walk on or dont get to matches?: Walk on when I can, which isn’t enough, but luck can change on this too!!

Favourite Player Today/Of all time: TODAY: 1. Wado 2. Duffman 3. Beast. BEFORE: 1. Irvine 2. Miller 3. Coates 4. McIlroy.

What was your first match you saw at Turf Moor and when?: Bit embarrassing this: Coventry 9 Nov 2002. Shan’t bore you with why life was unfair in not letting me got on sooner. First game was Stoke away with Jimmy Mac and Matthews playing for them. By process of elimination, I think it has to have been the famous 4-4 on 2 Nov 1963. But my Mum (who took me) and I can’t agree on that. First game her Dad saw was probably 28 Aug 1920.

Most memorable Clarets match & why: I do have a powerful memory of Matthews hugging the touch line a few rows in front of me and skipping at least once or twice past Clarets half his age, and I remember who was sitting behind me. But I can’t remember the goals! So I can’t say that 4-4 at Stoke was truly ‘memorable’; and if I can’t say my first, I’ll say what, as of today, is my last: Wembley 25 May 2009.

How did you hear about Vital Burnley?: When the Ball Moves

Favourite Pubs: My living room with a few friends round watching Bfc on telly. Failing that just about anywhere will do.

Favourite Booze: A good ale is my favourite, but when watching Clarets on the couch it’s been Red Stripe of late.

Favourite Food: I’ll eat anything. Well almost. I had heard the pies at the Emirates were good, but they had run out 45 mins before KO, and I couldn’t face the veggie ones.

Hobbies & Interests: walking the dog; walking the moors, dales and mountains; youthwork; history; sport; music; life. I also share PalsDad’s major interest (see above)!!!

Owt else you want us to know?: Am thinking about retiring north when the time comes, if I get that far.

Favourite Player Today/Of all time: We have a few decent players in the current squad but this season it is difficult to see past The Beast in terms of overall contribution. Favourite all-time would be Steve Kindon, who I had the pleasure of meeting recently at a sporting dinner – a true gent.
