Burnley’s Championship season continued with a three-nil defeat against Hull at the KC Stadium on Boxing Day.

Hull inflicted another defeat on Burnley, with three second half goals proving the different with club record signing Andre Gray having the Clarets best chance.

Jake Livermore made the breakthrough just ahead of the hour with Abel Hernandez soon adding the second before a last minute Sam Clucas goal saw the Burnley beaten by the Tigers for the first time in seven-years.

With leaders Middlesbrough seeing their game at Blackburn postponed this opened the door to Derby, who in winning two-nil against Fulham moved to the top of the Championship table.

Bolton’s troubles continued with them hammered by fellow strugglers Rotherham (who made it back-to-back wins) four-nil with Cardiff losing more ground on the play-off places with a defeat at MK Dons, who eased their troubles slightly as the year moves closer to an end.
