A last minute Chris McCann goal was enough to keep the Clarets’ winning run going, and close the gap on leaders Cardiff.

As the leaders lost to Colchester, and Preston stuffed Luton, McCann’s goal was pivotal in what is shaping up to be an interesting season for the Clarets.

The Irish teenager operated as an emergency centre half, after captain Wayne Thomas failed to shake off his knee injury.

A quick corner, resulted in a fine cross by Alan Mahon, where McCann’s stunning header beat Shane Supple, to give the Clarets all three points for the third game on the spin.

There was still time after for Micah Hyde to be shown the red card, collecting his second yellow card in the dying seconds.
