Cork On Swansea & Burnley’s New Dimension

Midfielder Jack Cork has given his thoughts on a return to the Liberty Stadium to face Swansea and the new dimension he feels our January dealings have given us.

Heading to the Liberty Stadium with Swansea City finally seeming to steady themselves again this year under new manager Carlos Carvalhal – they are unbeaten in the last eight games – Cork knows it seems par for the course over the last few years where the first half of the campaign is poor, something changes and then they finish strongly, so he said there was no way Burnley would underestimate his former club, especially as he can speak from experience when it comes to the lift the home crowd give them.

Speaking to Sky Sports Cork explained.

‘Every season for the last three years it seems to be the same. They have had a bad start and they have managed to change something and had a great second half of the season.’

Speaking from his own experience at the club.

‘Personally knowing that in the second half of the season how the crowd can get fired up when they do start to pick up results and sense that they may have a chance of doing a lot better than in the first half it can be a big atmosphere when they get behind you. It is going to be a tough game for us to go down there and try and get the win.’

There was also praise for our new arrivals last month. Sean Dyche brought in Aaron Lennon and Georges-Kevin N’Koudou and Cork was pleased with the impact they’d made on the training ground and he felt both players offered us a ‘different dimension’ now in games given their particular styles of play.

‘They have been great so far. They are something completely different to what we have had before. You can tell the pace and liveliness of them when they have been on the pitch.’

He added.

‘They have done brilliant for us. It just gives us a different dimension for us to use. Sometimes it is nice to have a little change and something new and to keep everyone on their toes, to give everyone a boost to know we have still got a lot of work until the end of the season.’
