Ashley Barnes could attract interest from Crystal Palace and Newcastle at the end of the season, according to reports on ESPN.

With two years left on Barnes’ existing contact there’s no pressure for Burnley to sell but that doesn’t mean this wouldn’t happen. And it has been claimed he’ll be targeted by Crystal Palace boss Sam Allardyce and a former club of the ex-England boss, Newcastle.

Not short of attacking options, it’s claimed Crystal Palace and Newcastle are ready to test Burnley’s resolve as they look to boost their Premier League squads when Palace look for a much improved season in 2017-18 and the Magpies a positive return to the topflight.

Barnes, 27, would probably see his chances limited at either club so he would better served – despite earning less – staying at Turf Moor.

Sean Dyche isn’t expected to hold any interest in offloading the former Brighton forward as building Burnley’s squad ahead of the next campaign is his aim, not reducing it, perhaps the anticipated exit of Michael Keane aside.
