Steve Cotterill, according to the Offical Site is still hoping to secure the services of Eric Djemba-Djemba for next season.

These rumours were picked up at the weekend but a lot of Clarets fans thought the Premiership salaries potentially involved and the likely transfer fee would be out of our reach unless a season-long loan was an option. The loan option appears to be what the club have in mind but either way, if they can retain his services this will be a great coup and a boost for all Clarets fans.

The midfielder, signed on loan from Aston Villa in January this year has proved a big hit and he has contributed significantly to our recent run of form in April picking up a number of the fan’s Man of the Match awards. He has made 14 appearances for the Clarets (with two as a substitute).

Cotterill hopes to bring the Cameroon international and former Manchester United player back to Turf Moor for the start of the 2007/08 season.

The manager had this to say about the 26-year-old:

‘Djemba-Djemba has been fantastic and if there was any opportunity of keeping him I’d only be too delighted to have him.

‘He has come in and definitely added something to us. He passes it as well as anybody has in my time here.’

Eric however is still under contract at Villa Park, and the Official Site itself states

‘A season-long loan would appear to be the best option of landing Djemba-Djemba’

Lets hope we will see Eric lining up for a proper Claret & Blue team come August 2007!
