Michael Duff had surgery on Tuesday evening for serious knee injuries and will require further surgery to fix a snapped cruciate ligament. It looks like he will now need the rest of the season to recover. What rotten luck after losing Berisha to a cruciate ligament injury earlier in the season!

Duff has multiple ligament and hamstring damage after being injured in what looked like an innocent challenge during Saturday’s drawn match against Crystal Palace.

The gaffer Steve Cotterill had this to say about the disastrous news

‘Michael has just had an operation tonight (Tuesday) and his lateral ligament has snapped off the bone. That one has been sutered.

‘His hamstring tendon has snapped off off a bone on the lateral side, so that has been sutured in tonight.

‘But the worst part of it is he has probably got to go back in about six to eight weeks because he has snapped his cruciate ligament as well.’

‘We only got the news on Michael tonight (Tuesday), so for all the petty, annoying rumours that have gone on with that one in the past 24 hours, whether it’s websites, pubs or clubs we didn’t know that until now.

‘That was probably the annoying factor for me in the past 24 hours and quite annoying for me.

‘It’s a big blow, but that’s just something else we dealt with tonight.

‘That’s two cruciates, but we will keep rolling on and people can either come with us and cheer us on, or don’t come with us.’
