Two Burnley youngsters have gained loan spells this week with Alex Whitmore heading to Bury and Aiden O’Neill moving to Fleetwood Town.

21 year old centre half Whitmore makes the move to Bury on a loan deal that will last until the January window following his successful loan spell out at Morecambe last season.

During is time at Morecambe he took in 43 appearances in total, including 35 starts in League Two.

He has also taken in loan spells with National League sides Gateshead and Chester City.

Bury manager Lee Clark is quoted by the Official Site as saying about his latest capture.

‘I am delighted to be able to get Alex in with us before the start of the season. He is a real no-nonsense defender who has good experience of first-team football and can he will certainly bring that competition for places that I am striving for.’

19 year old midfielder O’Neill heads to Highbury on a loan spell that will last for the entire 2017/18 campaign, but we do have a recall clause in place for January if we wish.

He spent the second half of last season out on loan with Oldham Athletic, making 15 league appearances as they avoided the drop so this will be his second League One experience.

The player himself said.

‘I`m really excited to come here and work under Uwe Rosler and his staff. I want to hit the ground running and do my best to help the team.’

Fleetwood gaffer Uwe Rosler added.

‘Aiden is a player who we have had on our radar for quite some time. He is 19 years old, but he is far more matured than his age. He will add things to our team that we need. He is athletic, well-skilled and we must give compliments to the coaching staff at Burnley for that. He is very ambitions, a good lad and I`m delighted to get him to us. I`m sure our department in central midfield will be strengthened. I`m really looking forward to working with Aiden.’
