Dyche Talks Cork

Burnley manager Sean Dyche has said that Jack Cork’s experience will be vital to us next season in the Premier League campaign of 2017/18.

With Cork returning back to Turf Moor earlier in the week on a four year deal that could rise to a £10million cost with addons from Swansea City, Dyche believes he’s the perfect addition to our midfield.

Speaking to the Official Site Dyche talked up Cork’s experience and the fact he’ll add an important element of depth to the middle of the part.

‘We want depth in the squad and we want good competition and I think Jack definitely bring that with his experience in the Premier League. We felt a player of that type, who was available to us, was a really good acquisition for the club now and for the future. I was working with the development squad at Watford when Jack came down on loan when Brendan Rodgers was the manager. I know what a good character he is and everyone at Burnley will know, arguably better than me, because of the last time he here.’

Dyche went on to add.

‘I use the word sparingly if I can, but we like the idea of players growing in our camp. Some have just had a little bit more at other clubs they`ve been at. We like that mixture and we want that open mindedness from a player where the Premier League is new or, for some of our lads it`s just a second season. But I still think you need that bit of experience in the group. I thought we needed that all along, and this is the third Premier League season at the club under myself. That`s a healthy balance for now and for the future of the club.’

Speaking more himself following his arrival, Cork was looking forward to cementing his relationship with the Turf Moor faithful and he was looking upwards in the table now.

‘This is a club that has been constantly changing over the past few years and is going in the right direction, so I am excited to be here. Hopefully, I`m a better player than the one who was here seven or eight years ago. Things have changed and I`ve changed as a person. I`d like to think I`ve got better and hopefully I can bring that to the team.’

Having now trained with the team, he went on to say about the group.

‘There`s a great set of lads here who have been really friendly since I arrived yesterday. I`ve only been here a day, but it feels like it should be quite easy to settle. It was probably the right time to move closer to our families and before the children get settled into school, to try and get them settled. Hopefully they will like it here because we all loved it last time I was at Burnley, and we want to enjoy it just as much this time.’

Adding.

‘As I said it`s a different club. I`ve only heard amazing things about the training ground and that`s massive because we were getting changed at the stadium before, then putting towels on the car seats to head back to the ground to change! I`m looking forward to seeing that and working there every day and also seeing the fans. I feel like I had a good relationship with the Burnley fans and hopefully I can build on that and we can have a successful year.’

With plenty of fond memories from his time with us previously, he was obviously looking to build some more.

‘I have great memories from when I was here before, but in my first season here the club was relegated, so it would be nice to have a different outcome this season. They did amazingly well last season and we have to try and build on that, so to be a part of that would be great.’
