Manager Sean Dyche has spoken of a ‘special’ title win for Burnley as they seized the Championship trophy this weekend and ended 2015/16 with 23 games unbeaten.

Travelling to The Valley and taking a three nil victory on the day, Burnley were denied lifting the title as the Football League decided it would no longer happen at away games from this season on, but Dyche was full of pride nontheless as we took the title by four clear points.

Speaking to the Official Site at the full time whistle as he conducted his post game press interviews, a smiling Dyche explained.

‘I don`t want to over-egg it because it`s amazing what the lads have achieved this season. In the first half we were off our game and I had to remind them of a couple of things at half time. But in the second half you all saw how well we started and the game was dead then. Amazingly we were questioned earlier in the season, by some of our own fans, not many, but to go 23 games unbeaten is pretty special, let me tell you; in any level of football, but particularly in the Championship.’

Speaking more about the 23 game unbeaten run, with 20 clean sheets – he didn’t want anybody to forget the 20 clean sheets!

‘Twenty three games – and there`s been 20 clean sheets in there! That`s approaching half a season, so there are so many positives this season from the group. The players have been exceptional and what I am particularly proud of is there have been players who had to miss out on that. I`ve had to take good players and good people out of that and their respect has been through the roof.’
