Fans Delighted As Burnley Centre Half Gets England Reward

Gareth Southgate has now named his England team for tonight’s friendly against Italy at Wembley Stadium and Burnley centre half James Tarkowski is set to earn his first cap.

England take to the pitch at 8pm this evening and Tarkowski’s form for Burnley this season, as he manfully stepped up to replace Everton bound Michael Keane, saw him named in the group alongside teammate Nick Pope as they both received their maiden call-ups.

Tarkowski must have impressed Southgate during training as he’s been named in the starting eleven and he takes his place alongside:

Jack Butland, Kieran Trippier, Ashley Young, Kyle Walker, John Stone, James Tarkowski, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Eric Dier, Jamie Vardy, Raheem Sterling, Jesse Lingard

He becomes the 28th Claret in history to be capped by England and the fourth Burnley player to represent the nation since the start of 2017.

Congratulations Tarky – show them what you’re made of! A well deserved recognition for his performances through 2017/18 so far.
