Fans Dispute Mee’s Status

|

Burnley manager Sean Dyche has confirmed that centre half Ben Mee is likely to be missing for a few weeks after picking up a shin injury.

Our stand in skipper has been ruled out of this weekend’s clash with his former loan club Leicester City, and of course the tie from a European battle perspective could be key as with four straight wins we are now six points clear of Claude Puel’s side.

Speaking to the Official Site as he met with the media ahead of the game this weekend, Dyche explained.

“Ben could be a couple of weeks. We’ll see. He’s got a stress reaction at the bottom of his shin. It’s a stress response to the workload and gets quite sore around where the ankle attaches to the shin.”

Mee did of course have similar last season which saw him sit out a few games as he recovered but hopefully it settles down quickly.

Kevin Long is expected to start again in his absence.

In other injury news Johann Berg Gudmundsson is expected to return after missing the last two with a calf injury but GK Nkoudou will need a late check having reported a tight hamstring. Scott Arfield is back in training but the Leicester game comes too quickly.

Reacting to the news about Mee, the official Twitter feed accidentally claimed it was a knee injury before quickly correcting.

Some saw the humour in their choice of words.

Others feared for the summer and the impending transfer window after the season we’ve had.

Only one way to allay those fears – get him back on the pitch sharpish as we go through the season run in!
