Mr Brendan Flood has joined the Board of Directors.

A Manchester-based shopping centre owner and developer who is a lifelong supporter of the club was voted onto the board on Monday, December 4

Mr Flood, 45 was born in Rossendale. He has a financial background and formed his own company, Modus Properties, in 1991.

He is quoted as saying on the Official Burnley FC site “I am a lifelong Burnley fan, all my family are Burnley fans and all my mates are Burnley fans, so this is like living the dream.

“It is an exciting time and the task I face now is fitting enough space in my agenda to enjoy the role!”

“I have known two of the directors for five years and I think the board have a fairly sound business plan for the football club.

“My heart is always in the football side of Burnley and my aim is to maintain that enjoyment.

“But at the same time I think I can bring some extra dynamism to the future of the club.

“In a way I think the club just needs re-energising. There are a lot of people out there who are lifelong fans, like me, and there are ways of getting them to participate for the betterment of the club.

“Steve Cotterill is a very ambitious and talented manager and we have a great team spirit here. I see a real potential to succeed within the club and I want to be a part of that.

“I have made an initial financial commitment to buy shares in the club and in the future I am looking to participate in helping the club when the opportunity arises.’

“Where we have the right team on the pitch, we can better ourselves with the financial support of those off it.”

All this sounds promising and seems to further strengthen the encouraging noises coming from the Board at the moment that we might see some strengthening of the squad in the January transfer window.

Everyone at Vital Burnley FC would like to welcome Brendan to the Board. Could this be our season?
