The hunt is over for a new left back and it has proved to be a Fox hunt!

Burnley FC have confirmed the signing of 23 year old Celtic left back Danny Fox for an undisclosed fee subject to international clearance by the Scottish FA.

He has agreed a three-and-a-half-year deal

The defender though will not be available for tomorrow’s game against Chelsea.

The competition for the left back spot has now hotted up with Jordan, Kalvenes and Easton all available to play in that position although Fox can also play in left midfield if required.

Born in Winsford, Cheshire, Fox is a former England Under 21 international. However with a Scottish grandfather he switched allegiance to Scotland and now has one full international cap for them.He won his first Scotland cap in the 3-0 friendly defeat to Wales in Cardiff in November.

Fox came through the Everton youth academy but never made his debut in the Toffees first team. A loan spell at Stranraer in 2004 followed before his eventual release from Everton in the summer of 2005. He then signed for Walsall and made nearly 100 appearances for the club before seizing the opportunity to play a league higher in the Championship by signing for Coventry in January 2008.

Fox signed a four-and-a-half year contract for Celtic in July 2009 for an undisclosed fee believed to be around £1.5 million but became surplus to requirements. His absence from the Celtic side recently though was due to an hamstring injury.

Welcome aboard Danny!
