The Clarets have been linked with 20 year old Hearts winger, Andrew Driver for most of the close season following two failed bids by gaffer, Owen Coyle.

Coyle however, frustrated with the response at Hearts made it plain he was not going to put in a third bid unless the Scottish club approached him.

Media reports suggested recently that Hearts had taken their eye off the ball in their search for a new manager with a number of communication problems holding up transfers both into and out of Tynecastle.

Hearts do however now have a new manager and he has made it plain that he wants Driver to remain at the club.

The Edinburgh club recently appointed Hungarian Csaba Laszlo as their new manager and Laszlo last week declared he was determined to hold onto his best young players including Driver and Christophe Berra.

Andrew Driver went one stage further this week and declared that he really wants to see out his contract with Hearts, having no intention to move South.

‘I’m happy at the club and I’ve never once said I’m not, Driver proclaimed

‘The club’s given me my first step in first-team football and I’ve got to repay them.

‘I’ve signed a contract and that contract lasts three years and I’ve got to give 100% for however long I’m here.

‘I like Edinburgh, I’ve got all my friends, my whole family is here so there’s nothing pushing me to want to move now.

‘Nothing’s ever come to me about Burnley. I’ve heard nothing about that so I can’t act on that.

‘Ive just got to get my head down and play for Hearts.

‘I’m a Hearts player and I’m happy here and that’s as far as it goes.

‘You see the stories but until someone comes to me to say it was happening, I don’t have a decision to make.’

So that seems pretty conclusive and although Owen Coyle has been up in Scotland this week as part of our pre-season Scottish tour, unless there is some huge smokescreen going on at the moment, Andrew Driver now appears to be off the radar.
