Midfielder Jeff Hendrick has looked back to victory over Bournemouth last weekend and also spoken about tonight’s Premier League clash with West Ham United.

With the Republic of Ireland internationals opening goal putting us on track for victory over Eddie Howe’s side last weekend, he told the Official Site in his own mixed post and pre game press conference this week that hopefully the side can gain the advantage in more matches moving forward as obviously it gives us something to hang onto and forces the opposition to chase more, which gives space we can exploit.

‘The pass was a little bit over hit but I was lucky to get it under control. It just sat up well and thankfully I got a good connection and it went into the top corner. I was happy to get the goal, although the main thing was the three points. It`s always good to get the first goal. When we are on the road we have gone down the first goal and it`s hard to come back from. We`ve got to try and get the first goal in games when we can, especially when we are on top. I thought we started brilliantly and we`ve got to keep doing that.’

With away a contrast to Turf Moor adventures so far this year, Hendrick went on to say that hopefully with a double header of away fixtures in the next two games – West Ham and Tottenham Hotspur – Burnley can build some momentum on our travels because he knows we have the quality, we just need that break and then to take advantage of it.

‘I don`t think we have had a problem scoring goals at home. We`ve got to bring these types of performances into our away form. We`ve got a great chance now with two away games this week, so hopefully we can put it right. Once we start the game brightly, like we did on Saturday, and if we can get the first goal, I think we will build in confidence and go on from there, so hopefully we can do that.’

Adding.

‘We need to keep pushing on and getting points when we can. We`ve said that from the start. It`s going to be a tough year. There are going to be ups and downs but we`ve got to make sure every game we go into we work as hard as we did on Saturday.’
