Academy graduate Steven Hewitt has today been released by Burnley following a mutual contract termination.
The 22 year old midfielder and former scholar has made two first team appearances for the club – both from the bench back in April 2012 and December 2013.
His only start for the club came in the League Cup back in August 2012.
During his time at the club he took in two loan spells, spending three months with Alfreton Town back in 2013, before then spending a month with Southport at the end of the 2014-15 season.
Speaking to the Official Site manager Sean Dyche explained.
‘Naturally it`s a sad day for Stevie. We just felt the challenge of getting into our first team was a step too far, but he has been a credit to himself and his family with his professionalism. He just wasn`t at our current standard, but we do believe he has a future ahead of him in pastures new, so we wish him all the best in his footballing career.’
Announcing the news, Burnley wanted to wish the player the best for his future and thank him for his efforts during his time at the club.
