Burnley did what was asked, we went to Hull and we came away with all three-points but due to the results elsewhere on the day we became the first side confirmed as being relegated from the Premier League this season.

A first win in seven-matches, and also the ending of a 10-hour goal drought – with our lack of goals the main reason why we’ve made an instant return to the Championship – saw us come away from the KC Stadium with a one-nil win but this wasn’t enough following wins for Sunderland, Leicester and Aston Villa, coupled with the draw for Newcastle.

When we beat Man City in mid-March we had genuine hope of survival again but losing five of the next six-matches that followed meant that momentum couldn’t be carried forward and, as most outside of Turf Moor was almost certain would happen, we’ll now be back in the Championship in August….

Hull came closest to making a first half breakthrough but Brady was denied as his freekick struck the bar, the one and only chance that we had came to Barnes but Hull’s veteran ‘keeper Harper kept this out.

The lead came just past the hour when Ings (62) smashed home his 10th goal of the season, and what is likely to be one of his last for the club as he’ll not be returning to the second tier with us, he’ll either stay in the Premier League as he has no shortage of interest or could, which isn’t that likely, be tempted abroad.

I think it’s fair to say that we had a bit of ‘fortune’ with the goal but I don’t think we’ll complain about it and also don’t think it’s not something we haven’t deserved for our efforts this season.

Brady struck the bar with another freekick as Hull looked for an equaliser but it didn’t come and even though it wasn’t enough to keep us up we know that we couldn’t do any more than we did!

It was great to be in the large and noisy away crowd.

    Life goes on…

Can we complete a double over Stoke?

Who’ll be our gaffer next season?

Who’ll be gone from the playing squad?
