Jay Rodriguez, in his first professional season for the Clarets has joined the Scottish First Division side, Stirling Albion until the end of the season. The young forward could make his debut in Saturday’s Scottish Cup tie against Glasgow Celtic! Some baptism of fire that one!

Jay will continue to train with the Clarets during the week and then travel up to Scotland for their matches.

Burnley manager Owen Coyle said:

‘This move will be good for Jay

‘It will give him valuable first team experience and that will make him a better player

‘Jay will continue to train with us each week and hopefully the deal will be beneficial to all parties.’

The 17-year old striker was a second year apprentice in 2006/7 and was only offered a professional contract in the 2007 Close Season.

He made an impression in the pre-season friendly against Wrexham scoring a goal

Jay has yet to make his full League debut for the Clarets and he has only managed two appearances on the bench this season in the Christmas fixtures at home to Sheffield Wednesday and Bristol City.

In the match against Bristol City he was given his debut in the first team replacing Stephen Jordan with only 4 minutes remaining.
