Burnley have agreed the signing of pacy striker Steve Jones from Crewe Alexandra on a free transfer.

The striker, who can also play on the wings will complete the signing when the transfer window re-opens, having scored 45 goals in 173 appearances for the Alex.

The swoop for Jones, comes fresh after the news that Clarets’ stars Micah Hyde, Gifton Noel-Williams, Danny Karbassiyoon, and Duane Courtney were all placed on the transfer list today.

Jones, nicknamed Jonah, joined Crewe in July 2001, and has 24 caps for Northern Ireland.
