Making a return to Turf Moor looking to cause the Clarets problems this afternoon is likely to be in-form striker Alan Lee.
The former Burnley frontman has made a strong start to the season Town, notching up five goals so far, leading the clubs scoring charts in the process. A Clarets signing for a fee of around £150,000 in July 1999, his time at Turf Moor was unproductive, with many of his appearances coming from the subs bench, and he was eventually allowed to leave, joining Rotherham in 2000.
His time at Milmoor was the most prolific in his career so far, as he rattled in 40 goals in his three-year stay, scoring at a consistent rate in the clubs league campaigns, with 37 in 111 games.
A big-money move to Cardiff was completed, when the Welsh side paid £850,000 for his services in August 2003. He never really settled in during his time at Ninian Park, and his goal ratio reflected this, with the Irishman scoring just 13 times in two seasons with the bluebirds.
He joined the Tractor Boys in the January transfer window last season, and became an instant hit with his new club, scoring four times before a hamstring injury halted him, and forced him to miss the end of the season.
Now rejuvenated after the summer break, Lee has wasted no time in getting going this season, and has looked every bit as sharp as he was when he first signed for the club in January. A goalscoring season could well force him into Irish manager Steve Staunton`s first team plans, and the dangerman can look to build on the eight caps amassed so far, and he will no doubt be looking for a happier time at Turf Moor today.
