The Club have today lost its appeal against the red card shown to Clarke Carlisle in last Saturday’s 1-1 draw at Millwall.

The appeal was rejected by an FA commission, which upheld the decision of referee Keith Stroud.

Carlisle will now serve a three-match ban and will miss our Championship games against Sheffield United, Barnsley and Reading later this month. At least however they didn’t enforce an additional match ban which perhaps suggest the club were not totally wrong to challenge the referee’s decision.

Brian Laws talking about the decision said:

‘We are disappointed with the outcome.

‘We felt the decision was harsh but we have to accept the verdict and move on.

‘We again showed on Saturday the strength we have within the squad and I know that whoever benefits from Clarke’s absence will come in and do a good job for us when we start again after the international break.’
