Rumours of Michael Keane returning to Manchester United aren’t exactly new.

However, it’s claimed if – it probably should be ‘if’ and not when – he left Burnley his probable destination would be Old Trafford according to Football Whispers, via the (always reliable) Daily Star.

Man United have already taken Paul Pogba back to the club this season with it claimed the Burnley defender is the one Jose Mourinho is most ‘Keane’ on signing in January as he looks to boost his defensive options.

Sean Dyche is reportedly scouting replacements with Barnsley’s Marc Roberts earmarked as a possible arrival according to this report.

Keane admitted himself recently he’s been flattered by the interest shown and knows the onus is on him to keep producing the goods if he wants that to remain the case.

The 23-year-old also knows he’s got to play to his best week-in-week-out to retain his England squad place – I’m convinced his best bet of this at this moment in time is to remain at Turf Moor.

I suspect he will leave Burnley at the end of the season and that may well take him back to Old Trafford? However, I’m no less convinced by these claims that he’ll be anything but a Clarets player come the end of January.
