With the Clarets striker situation on critical, Aston Villa’s 20 year old England Under-21 international Nathan Delfouneso today joined Burnley on loan until the end of the season and found he was immediately in the starting eleven for tonight`s match at Hull City after replacing Chris Iwelumo in Eddie Howe`s only change.

Not only that but within 5 minutes he had scored to put the Clarets 1-0 up at the KC Stadium and that remained the score at half-time when this article was written. Good start then for the new boy!

Delfouneso came though Villa`s youth academy and has made the occasional appearance for their first team after making his debut in a UEFA Cup game in the 2008/9 season. Delfouneso made his league debut in March 2009 against Tottenham Hotspur coming on as a second half substitute for Gabriel Agbonlahor. He has made 24 first-team apperances for Villa scoring a couple of goals.

Although a recognised striker, Delfouneso has also played a number of times on the wing.
