Burnley Football Club has today suspended midfield player Joey Gudjonsson for two weeks pending a full investigation following alleged comments made in the media.

An Icelandic website quoted Gudjonsson questioning the team spirit at Turf Moor ahead of last Saturday`s 4-1 victory at Hull City.

The news broke after Sky Sports reported that Gudjonsson had been speaking to the Icelandic website called fotbolti.net.

In an astonishing outburst he allegedly told the website:

‘He (Brian Laws) lost the dressing room long ago.I think all the players have lost faith in him, the performances say all that has to be said.’

Vital Burnley published an article of the situation last week and you can read further background by clicking this link:

Brian Laws angered by the suggestion said after the Hull City game:

“It`s not difficult to deal with when you get a response like that. The players gave an answer and I`m just disappointed with a player that`s not anywhere near the team.”

The midfielder, 29, whose contract with the Clarets expires in the summer, attended a disciplinary hearing at the club this Monday.(12th April)

According to the club press release received by Vital Burnley, Burnley Football Club will be making no further comment.
