Striker Andre Gray and Burnley have today confirmed that in light of his FA charge, the player has now requested a personal hearing.

Following an extension owing to the closure of the summer transfer window and deadline day, Gray now had until 6pm earlier this evening (Monday September 5) to answer the charge relating to his historic social media communications which were deemed ‘abusive and/or insulting and/or improper and/or bringing the game into disrepute contrary to FA Rule E3(1).’

Further the charge alleged in relation to the posts made between 9 January, 2012 and 11 March, 2012, that they included reference to an ‘aggravating factor, namely, sexual orientation and/or gender and/or colour and/or race contrary to FA Rule E3(2).’

A date for this hearing has not yet been set and will be confirmed in due course by the Football Association.
