Grimsby Claret gives us his player ratings following Burnley FA Cup third round tie against Manchester City at the weekend.

Travelling to the Etihad Stadium, Burnley took the lead through Ashley Barnes, but following a controversial ‘quick free kick’ Sergio Aguero levelled the scores ten minutes into the second half. Frustration saw Burnley switch off and Aguero gave them the advantage two minutes later.

Having regrouped from the double sucker punch, Burnley went in search of a leveller of their own, but it wasn’t to be as Leroy Sane and Bernardo Silva increased the hosts advantage in a four one victory.

Here’s Grimsby Claret’s take on the player ratings for the starting eleven.

Pope 4 – Knocked 2 points off for that massive blunder, otherwise he would have got 6.
Lowton 6 – Just scraped a 6, bit slow to react at times.
Long 6 – Solid as can be against the top Quality of City’s best.
Mee 7 – Good solid performance, as we have come to expect.
Taylor 6 – Steady performance, not yet as good as Ward.
Gudmundsson 7 – What a great player this lad is proving to be.
Cork 7 – Showed touches of class today.
Westwood 8 – Wow! Keep knocking at the door.
Barnes 8 – Hero! What a goal, gives everything this lad.
Hendrick 6 – Nearly gave him a 5 but not being played in his best position for me.
Vokes 6 – Gives his best, not too far away from one of his trade mark headers.
