The Official Website also confirmed a new contract offer was made to Joey Barton but this is (seemingly) a no go now!

Veteran Paul Robinson has been offered a new deal into next season with the former Leeds and England ‘keeper ending the title winning campaign with Burnley.

Six have been released though with the retained list confirmed.

Robinson, who had been without a club since his release by rivals Blackburn, and Barton had contract offers made to them but four first-team squad players ‘keeper Matthew Gilks, defender Michael Duff, midfielder Matt Taylor and winger Lloyd Dyer (who signed a short-term deal towards the end of the season) have all been released at the end of their contracts.

Also not getting new deals are young ‘keeper Danijel Nizic and striker Jason Gilchrist.

Duff, as we know, retired as a player but he’ll now be taking up his coaching role with the Clarets’ U18 side with ‘keeper Tony Aghayere and striker Khius Metz accepting new scholarship deals taking them into a third year.

Commenting on the retained list Sean Dyche said.

‘There are always tough decisions to make at the end of every season. But in football you have to keep moving forwards and on behalf of everyone at the football club, I would like to thank the players leaving us for all their efforts and professionalism. We wish them well in their careers elsewhere and we look forward to working again with those who will remain at Turf Moor.’

What do you think of these decisions?
