Oldham-born Andy Driver is back on Burnley’s radar. The 22 year old Hearts winger is reported to be one of Brian Laws targets with both STV and BBC Sport suggesting we have put in a £1.5 million bid for the winger.

However sources at Hearts have told STV that our offer falls way short of their valuation of the player with the suggestion we would need to almost double our bid!

Owen Coyle was always keen to sign Driver. He was the subject of two bids from the Clarets totalling £500,000 in the summer of 2008. This was rejected by Hearts along with one from Coventry City.

Driver moved to Scotland from Oldham at the age of 11 after his father found a job opportunity North of the Border.

The winger started his professional career with Hearts and after progressing through the youth ranks at Tynecastle signed a five year contract in 2008 until 2013.

He represented England at Under-21 level last summer but has since expressed a desire to play for Scotland. Driver currently awaits the decision of a FIFA ruling on whether he qualifies to play for Scotland or not.
