The Canaries are thought to have an interest in bringing Burnley captain,Chris McCann to Carrow Road.

It is reported in the local press that Norwich have been considering a bid for McCann since Chris Hughton replaced Paul Lambert as manager last month.

Burnley though have denied any approach from the Premier League club and have made the standard statement that they dont have to sell any more players following the departure of Jay Rodriguez to Southampton.

The problem for Burnley though is that McCann is now in the final year of his current contract.

Last summer, McCann signed a new deal initially for one year with an option for a further 12 months and the club took up that option in May this year.

However it still means the club could be tempted to cash in now rather than risk losing the player next summer on a Bosman.

With Jason Shackell now on board, a proven captain for Derby County, Chris McCann’s departure may not be viewed as critical and he failed to ignite the crowd last season often coming under criticism.
