The Clarets may well have 23-year-old Bournemouth defender, Steve Cook on their radar if reports in the Lancashire Telegraph are true. The local paper also suggests though they could face competition to sign him from other top flight clubs but they fail to mention who these other clubs might be.

Cook joined Bournemouth for £150,000 in January 2012 and has made 122 appearances for the south coast club. He has also been a key member of Eddie Howe`s side this season playing every minute of the league campaign so far for the Cherries and helping them currently top the Championship table. In addition to the Premier League interest from other clubs, Burnley could find it hard to wrestle the defender away from the South Coast in favour of a move to the North West. The Lancashire Telegraph understand Cook could be reluctant to come this far north especially to a club fighting for their top flight survival.

The central defender came through the youth system at Brighton signing professionally for the Seagulls in 2008 and making his debut during the League Cup third round victory over Manchester City in September 2008. Loan spells at non-league, Havant & Waterlooville, Eastleigh, Eastbourne Borough and Mansfield Town followed before joining Bournemouth on loan in October 2011. In January 2012, he rejoined Bournemouth permanently after signing a three-and-a-half year deal
