Owen Coyle wants to sign Ecuadorian winger Fernando Guerrero according to media reports today.

The 19 year old made an impressive trial debut on the Clarets US tour this week against Ventura County Fusion.

In the Clarets 5-0 win, Guerrero assisted in one goal, scored with an header and was brought down in the box after getting the better of the Fusion defence. Fletcher scored from the resulting penalty.

He would have been a contender for Man of the Match though and looked lively throughout the game often whizzing past a bemused VC Fusion back four.

The Ecuador international left-sided winger, known to his mates as Nando, was originally on Real Madrid’s books and played for their reserve team, Real Madrid Castilla.

Coyle has been tracking Guerrero for some time it would appear after seeing him in action for Real’s reserve team.

Guerrero linked up with the Clarets in California this week on their pre-season tour of the USA and has been impressive in training in addition to the one trial match so far.

The winger who can also play in midfield was born in Quito, Ecuador and is the son of ex-footballer Jose Fernando Guerrero who used to play for Nacional of Quito. The family emigrated to Spain when Fernando was just a child.

Fernando Alexander Guerrero Vásquez, to give him his full name is a product of Real Madrid’s Academy after signing for them in 2007.

He played for CS Emelec on loan last season after signing for the Ecuador side in December 2008.

Guerrero made his International debut for Ecuador on 21 January 2007 in a friendly against Sweden and now has two caps to his name.

Nando currently plays for Independiente Della Valle in Ecuador. He is rated at £2million by the club he joined after six years at Real Madrid.

Coyle could make an offer within days according to media reports.

Owen Coyle had this to say about the impressive starlet following the VC Fusion game:

“He`s a young kid with a lot to learn in the game. Certainly not the finished article. But he`s the type of player that I like. He`s exciting. We`ve got a few of them, but I like four or five of them.”

Chris Eagles was also impressed by the young talent:

“He`s very good. I`m very pleased for him. He`s great to play with him. I appreciate the way he plays.”

So what do you think yourself? Well we again put up two You Tube videos of the player in action for his clubs and once more in another, you can see how well he did in the VC Fusion game. Enjoy:
