The Clarets upped their offer for Hearts winger, Andrew Driver last night to a guaranteed £3 million.

It is understood Burnley had put in a similar total offer previously but only £1.75 million would have been paid up front with the rest dependent on add-ons depending if they returned to the Premier League or not.

Hearts are understood to be on the verge of accepting the new offer.

Driver turned down a new contract at Hearts earlier this week and Tynecastle boss Vladimir Romanov is believed to want to cash in on the player.

It had been thought that the Clarets had given up hope of signing Driver and were now looking at alternatives.

Premier League clubs, Chelsea and West Ham United had also been linked with interest in the player but this speculation appears to have been unfounded and the Clarets now appear to be back on track to sign him.
