Relationships between Owen Coyle and Chelsea boss, Luiz Felipe Scolari appear to be blossoming after both managers built up rapport following our victory at the Battle at Stamford Bridge last week.

Coyle could be hoping to use the situation to try and freshen up the squad in the January window by one or more few of the Chelsea youngsters struggling to get a regular place in the first team.

Owen Coyle is quoted as saying:

‘They have some players that I would love to work with here. I’m always looking to build relationships.’

Scolari will hopefully have been impressed by the Clarets attack minded strategy and courage and could consider a loan of his peripheral players to Burnley an opportunity to develop the players.

One Chelsea player mentioned is Scott Sinclair(pictured above) The winger in recent seasons has enjoyed a number of loan spells with Championship sides including Plymouth, QPR and Crystal Palace. He was also rumoured to be interesting Coyle in the close season.

Clarets fans though could argue this is not a position that needs strengthening especially with Bes Berisha returning from his loan spell with Rosenborg soon.

Defence on the other hand could be considered higher priority after losing loan defender, Russell Anderson to a season-long cruciate ligament injury. The Clarets have often struggled this season finding enough cover in the back four as injuries and suspensions took their effect.

Chelsea’s Michael Mancienne is known to have been a Coyle target previously and could be at the back of Coyle’s mind now.

The 20 year old centre back/right back is currenly on loan to Wolves until the 29th December so could be available for another loan spell in the New Year. He has also previously had two loan spells down the road at QPR. Mancienne however has indicated he might be tempted to stay with Wolves and see them promoted possibly penning a permanent deal.

He has just over a year left on his contract at Chelsea and there have been little sign of negotiations over a new deal at Stamford Bridge. Mancienne speaking to the Mirror recently said:

‘There is always hope at Chelsea, but it is about being given a chance. I am behind some great defenders at Chelsea,’ he said. ‘There has been no discussions about a new deal and there will be a time when I have to think of my career and what is best for me.

‘It would be a massive decision for me to make if I stay at Wolves on loan and get promoted and there is a chance of playing in the Premier League with them.

‘It would be brilliant to help Wolves get up and it would be a brilliant option for me. Hopefully it happens.’

Doesn’t sound too hopeful that he might be tempted by a spell at Turf Moor then, but there could be other Chelsea players who might be.

This could be an exciting time for the Clarets if we can help bring on some of the exciting Chelsea youngsters and with Coyle now building up close relationships with Sir Alex Ferguson, Arsene Wenger and now it appears Scolari as well, this can only auger well for the future.
