27 year old Republic of Ireland international, Paul Green has been linked with a move to Turf Moor.

It is understood that Brian Laws has made enquiries about the former Doncaster Rovers player but as yet nothing more.

Green started his professional career as a trainee with Doncaster Rovers in 2001 He made his first team debut in a 2-2 draw with Northwich Victoria in the Conference in March 2002.

His contract with Doncaster came to an end in the summer of 2008 and despite being offered a new deal, Green instead opted to leave the Keepmoat and join Derby County on a free transfer.

Green signed a three-year contract with the Rams and earned his first international cap for the Republic of Ireland only this month(May 2010)

His debut for the Republic of Ireland was the 2-1 win against Paraguay at the RDS Arena on the 25th May when he came on from the bench in the second half. Three days later Green made his first international start against Algeria, scoring his first international goal in the 32nd minute in a 3-0 win

A central midfielder, Green can also play at right-back if required.

Although Burnley only appear to have made an enquiry at this stage, should they wish to progress further they could face competition from Celtic. The SPL club are also reported to be interested. According to the News of the World,Celtic are preparing a £1.5million bid.
