The summer transfer window closes at 5pm today, so this could be a hectic day for rumours, speculation and actual signings.

There are reports in the Dutch media that Holland International striker, Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink is keen to play in the Premier League after leaving Celtic at the end of last season.

The 30 year old free agent is understood to be a target for both Burnley and Wolves

FC Twente are also thought to have made a move for Hesselink; the club where he started his professional career.

Hesselink was with FC Twente for five years before he moved to Eredivisie-rivals PSV in 2001.

He left PSV and signed a three-year deal with Scottish champions Celtic, with the option of a further year, for a fee of around £3.4 million in August 2006.

Despite scoring 34 goals in 80 appearances for the Buoys he was released at the end of his contract in July 2009. He has since been linked with a number of clubs including Bristol City, Blackburn Rovers and Middlesbrough and Bundesliga club Hertha BSC.
