Irish media sources today have suggested the Clarets are about to raid our local neighbours with a view to signing Rovers Republic of Ireland under-21 winger Keith Treacy.

According to some reports earlier this morning, Rovers gaffer Sam Allardyce wants £1m for a player who is under contract until the summer of 2011.

Treacy though made just 20 first-team appearances for Blackburn last season and that included just two starts in the Premier League.

One Rovers fan on one of the sites I visit had this to say about the 20 year old:

‘I can’t see it being true, because I wouldn’t expect any scout or member of staff at Burnley could possibly have been impressed with what the guy has shown. He’s shocking, and will never trouble MGPs position in our team, and he hasn’t been at his best in a few years. But, if it is, I would drive him down to the Turf for you now, even for half of what that article says we want!’

What’s that then reverse psychology?

Treacy born in Dublin has 7 caps for the Republic of Ireland Under 21 side.

He signed his first professional contract for Blackburn in 2005. In 2007 he also had a short loan spell with Stockport County. He tends to play on the left-hand side of midfield
