It is inevitable that Jay Rodriguez continues to attract attention from Premier League clubs.

Both Newcastle and Sunderland were linked with the 22 year old England Under 21 international in the January window but thankfully he remained on our books.

Rodriguez is our top goal scorer this season with 17 goals so far in all competitions. It is no wonder therefore that other clubs are beginning to take note.

Media reports in the Sunday papers this morning suggest that Premier League club, Fulham could be the latest to become interested in signing the striker in the summer.

By all accounts, Martin Jol’s scouts have been looking at the striker and reporting back favourably.

It looks like it will be an uphill battle to keep Rodriguez at the club in the summer but then it was a surprise to many that he was not transferred in the January window.

The only firm bid we know about was Southampton. They failed with their attempt to sign him for £5 million at the start of the season and Burnley are bound to be looking in the region of £6-10 million before they would consider letting him depart Turf Moor once the summer transfer window opens.

Probably our best hope of keeping the locally Burnley-born star at the club would be to ensure we get promotion to the Premier League which is now increasingly looking like a tall order.
