The media have been linking out-of-favour Celtic striker, Derek Riordan with a move to Burnley for most of this year.

Owen Coyle failed with a £400,000 bid for the former Hibernian player in January and is still understood to be keen to bring the 25-year-old to Turf Moor

BBC Sport now believe Derek Riordan could be a Clarets player before the end of the week. They go on to say that although no new bid has been made an agreement could be reached before Celtic begin pre-season training.

The Edinburgh News state that according to a report this morning Burnley are poised to sign him in a £750,000 deal having last night talked with Celtic.

The player has struggled to make any impact under Gordon Strachan and their relationship has appeared to steadily deteriorate.

Clarets fans believed we were no longer after the striker with rumours also circulating that he may instead move to Yorkshire and sign for either Barnsley or even League One side, Leeds United. The latest strong media links can only bring cheer to us all

Once again here is a You Tube link for those that missed it of Riordan scoring for fun during his time at Hibernian.
