The Mirror today suggests Burnley could make a shock £750,000 move for Dundee United captain Barry Robson. This is not the first time the club have been linked with the player and now of course we are flush with money after selling Gray to Charlton for £1.5 million last week.

Vital Burnley had previously reported that according to Sky Sports, Portsmouth, Ipswich and Burnley were tracking the Dundee United midfielder.

All three clubs were also believed to have representatives at Dundee United’s Scottish Cup match against Clyde recently when Robson also scored the winning goal from distance.

Barry Robson is also understood to have a buy-out clause in his Tannadice contract fuelling all the speculation in the transfer window

Celtic and recently Newcastle have also been linked with the 29 year old.

Dundee United gaffer, Craig Levein fears losing the player and recently said:

”Of course I do [fear losing Robson].

‘I’m the manager of the team and he is the best player. But nobody has made any offers and we’ll cross that bridge when we come to it.’
