The Daily Mirror over the weekend reported that former Clarets striker,Steven Fletcher was ready to quit the club he joined just six months ago.

The Scotland international became Wolves joint record signing in the summer after signing from Burnley for a reported £7.5 million.

Fletcher, 23 though has failed to settle at Molineux despite scoring four goals for Wolves so far this season in the Premier League.

He has suffered from injuries but now fully fit he still can’t command a regular starting eleven place under Mick McCarthy.

It is thought that Fletcher was originally brought in as a potential replacement for Kevin Doyle with the Republic of Ireland international striker widely expected to leave in the summer. In the end though Doyle stayed and has become the automatic choice up front despite scoring just once in the top flight.Fletcher has not started for Wolves since their Carling Cup clash at Old Trafford seven matches ago.

Clearly Fletcher is unsettled and could be ready to move to another top flight club. The Mirror though intimate that Fletcher is wanted by Burnley so whether that is true or not remains to be seen. Could we afford to bring Fletcher back to Turf Moor? Possibly not but maybe a loan could be considered with a view to making a permanent move next summer. That could be the intention especially if the Clarets could gain promotion back to the top flight and Wolves, currently second from bottom in the Premier League are relegated.
