Former loan striker, David Nugent is out of contract at Portsmouth at the end of the month and already speculation is growing that he could be leaving Fratton Park despite the huge cash injection reportedly being put forward by the new owners.

It would appear Eddie Howe could be interested in bringing back the 26 year old former, Bury and Preston forward to Turf Moor but could face strong competition from Leicester manager, Sven Goran Eriksson.

Nugent moved to Portsmouth in a £6m deal in 2007 but never really established himself in the side. He returned to Fratton Park after his loan spell at Burnley fully expecting to leave and achieve his ambition of staying in the Premier League. New Pompey manager and former Clarets gaffer, Steve Cotterill though persuaded him to stay despite Portsmouth also being relegated along with Burnley back into the Championship at the end of the 2009-10 season.
