Burnley have been given clearance by the FA and Premier League to stage the friendly against cash-strickened club, Accrington Stanley at Turf Moor this Tuesday night (Sept 8th 7:45pm KO) with all the receipts going towards the League 2 club’s SOS ‘Save our Stanley’ campaign

Accrington Stanley have been given less than eight weeks to find £308,000 by the Inland Revenue and if the cash can not be found the club face being wound up.

They were served with a winding up order in May for unpaid taxes, with the club understanding they had 12 months to raise the cash and pay the taxman. The latest news therefore is a bitter blow to the club’s survival chances.

Stanley therefore this week launched their ‘Save our Stanley’ campaign to help the League Two club’s fight for survival and almost immediately Burnley stepped in with their offer of the friendly.

The Clarets look likely to field a number of big names including Chris Eagles and new signing David Nugent. The former Preston North End striker joined last week on loan from Portsmouth after choosing Burnley ahead of Hull and Wigan with just two minutes remaining of the summer transfer window.

Tickets will be £10 for adults and £5 for concessions with the Bob Lord and James Hargreaves Upper stands being open for home fans on the night.
