Chris Long has left Burnley for another loan spell.

Having spent time at Fleetwood and Bolton last season the upcoming campaign will take the former Everton forward to Northampton.

Long has this time left Turf Moor to join the League One side on a season-long deal.

Northampton boss Justin Edinburgh was quoted by the BBC: ‘He is a quality striker and possesses real pace which frightens defenders. I think all we will be adding now is another goalkeeper, which should complete a strong summer of recruitment for us. We are happy with the balance of the squad.’

The forward has made 10 appearances for Burnley since arriving from Everton in 2015 but only one of these has come in the starting XI.

However, as things stand, due to the fact Long is now in the final year of his contract, he doesn’t look as if he’ll have a future with the Clarets?

Long, 22, could be playing for a permanent future at Sixfields during this latest loan.
