Following investigations and scans it has now been confirmed that the Republic of Ireland international as suffered a patellar tendon tear.

Speaking briefly to the Official Site Dyche said.

‘Robbie will have surgery to repair a patellar tendon tear and will be out for a substantial recovery period. He will be given all the time and care he needs on his recovery and supported throughout from all of us at Burnley Football Club.’

Having joined from Norwich City last January as our then record signing – fee rising to £13million – he has made 31 appearances and been an ever present in the Premier League so far this season.

  • That’s a real downer,
Chin up Robbie We will still be in the premier League next season.
Sure you will come back even stronger.
Will miss you though mate, you have proved your a quality Premier League player.

  • Very bad news,, but could be another cloud with a silver lining. Popey has proven himself, is there another player who will do the same? or will SD find another gem in the Jan transfer market? Come on you Cllarets we can still get a top ten finish even if we have to accept that with Brady out a Champions League place is doubtful.
