St Johnstone boss, Derek McInnes is widely thought to be on Burnley’s short-list to find a replacement for Brian Laws.

The Scottish Sun today reports that Burnley have already held talks with the 39 year old.

If that is true the Burnley board obviously didn’t feel the need to go public this time announcing an official appraoch like they did for Norwich gaffer,Paul Lambert. Lambert appears to have rejected Burnley after making a further statement last night that he was staying at Carrow Road.

St Johnstone are understood to be desperate to keep McInnes at McDiarmid Park although Saints chairman, Geoff Brown is believed to be willing to let McInnes go should his ambition be to manage in England and follow in the footsteps of their former manager, Owen Coyle.
