Summer signing Charlie Taylor has spoken of his delight at getting a run out at Turf Moor in the midweek friendly against Celta Vigo.

Having joined the club from Leeds United this summer, it was his home debut in the two all draw, and he got all 90 minutes under his belt – starting centrally before moving to his usual left back slot.

Speaking to the Official Site following the game as he met with the press to reflect on the experience, he was now relishing the Premier League campaign to come.

‘It was a good experience. It was a great game to play in. A tough one, but an enjoyable night and an enjoyable first time playing at home here. They are a very good side. As you could see, they have specific way of playing which was hard to play against, so it was a really good test for us – good for fitness and good all-round. It`s mainly about fitness but it was a good test and a good work-out.’

Having ended a decade with Leeds when he made the switch, 23 year old Taylor is now battling with Republic of Ireland international Stephen Ward for the left back slot and he can’t wait for his first taste of top flight action now.

‘It`s been great. They are a brilliant set of lads and I seem to have settled really well and I`m enjoying it. I think all the lads are in good shape. The gaffer has put us through an extremely tough pre-season but we are reaping the benefits and hopefully we will hit the ground running at the start of the season. I can`t wait. Like everyone, I`m just counting down the days until the first game against Chelsea.’
